What is it about?

We're crafting a line of powdered hair treatments, custom to each Caribbean country, ensuring that when you open your packet of Caribbean Soil, you're greeted with the authentic scents and sensations of home.

But we're not stopping there.

Each Caribbean nation will have its own unique packaging, featuring:

-History lessons

-Recipes/remedies

-Stories

-Poems

-Folk tales

and so much more.

Furthermore, we're committed to giving back.

We'll collaborate with nonprofits from each Caribbean country.

What is our why?

With this project, our goal is to draw everyone closer to the vibrant heart of the Caribbean culture through amazing haircare products.

We seek to raise awareness not only of our unique individualities but also of our shared similarities. By sharing untold histories that transcend textbooks, showing relatable representation and incorporating "home" as much as possible we aim to forge a meaningful connection between the past and the present.

Also creating a safe space to have open discussions about hard topics that burden our community as it relates to identity and hair.

Message from our founder

My names is Shade Mckenzie and I am the CEO of Hair Smoothie and the founder of Caribbean Soil. I am 26 years old and I was born with a passion for entrepreneurship and culture. Growing up in Jamaica, the importance of hard work, resourcefulness and hospitality were instilled in me at a very young age. I am excited to launch such an impactful project and I hope you stick around to see my progress.
